The Washington Chaplains Association

Following is an email forwarded to me by WCA member John Thaler-Sanborn on February 20, 2008. This effort by Senator Carrell has been in the works for quite some time. A number of persons within the faith-based community are actively working to make this come to pass.

Subject: Senate Bill 6400

On behalf of Sen. Mike Carrell

To Whom it May Concern:

This is to let you know that Senate Bill 6400, establishing programs for the moral guidance of incarcerated persons, passed the Washington State Senate on February 18th with a vote of 47 - 1.  The bill has now been referred to the House Committee on Human Services.  A hearing has not yet been scheduled.

I would like to encourage you to contact the committee chair, Representative Mary Lou Dickerson at 360-786-7860, asking her to schedule this bill for a hearing. This is an important bill that I would like to see passed in the House.  You may watch for the hearing schedule at www.leg.wa.gov.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to respond to this e-mail, or call my office at 360 786-7654.

Thank you for support on this bill.

Sincerely,

Senator Mike Carrell
