This Chaplains Office contracts with a large
County Jail housing nearly 800 incarcerated
individuals,there are 180 + corrections
staff, and 150 + faith-based volunteers.
Population includes County, State, and
Federal inmates; 90% Male, 10% Female. Mean
stay is 16 - 21 days, with average book and
release rate of 18,000 individuals annually.
Included in the mean stay is a segment of
this population that require sentencing
several months to over one year in the
facility.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include working
collaboratively with other Chaplaincy staff,
jail staff, and community volunteers. Jail
Chaplains provide spiritual care for the
inmate population, crisis response, working
with community clergy, and facilitating a
large community volunteer base that provides
religious services within the jail. Staff
Chaplains also work a rotating on-call
schedule at the community facilities listed
below.
Chaplain staff meetings are weekly, and
often a highlight of the week. There are
currently sixteen Chaplain staff working in
various community locations that gather on
this day. Meetings offer an opportunity for
case presentation and training. The staff
considers the rapport, support, and
friendship of this distinctive Chaplain Team

Home Agency
Tri-Cities Chaplaincy is the contacting
agency that supports this position. This
is a 100+ employee agency that serves
the Tri-Cities area with a Hospice
Center, and contracted Chaplain staff at
Kadlec Medical Center, Kennewick General
Hospital, Tri-Cities Cancer Center,
local Emergency Services, Benton County
Juvenile Justice Center, and Benton
County Justice Center. The Chaplaincy is
also a regional education center for
APCE accredited Clinical Pastoral
Education courses, and places Chaplain
interns in the centers above and a local
substance abuse rehabilitation center

Salary Range
$34,000 - $50,000 Depending on education
and experience
Requirements
Demonstration of Education
applicable to the position;
1-4 units of APCE accredited Clinical
Pastoral Education (CPE);
CPE equivalencies will be considered,
and required units may be completed
following hire;
Basic computer skills for
Microsoft Office programs;
Other beneficial experience includes
classroom teaching and management,
experience working with inmate, or
inmate-like, populations, and
experience with authority
structured, military, or
correctional environments.
